UK Visas and Work Permits
EU citizens do not need an entry visa or a work permit. Doctors from other countries do however need a working visa and a work permit. This can often be sponsored by the Hospital as Doctors are considered a skills shortage profesion. You may be eligible for either a UK Ancestry Visa or Right to Abode certificate if you are a Commonwealth citizen

Doctors who have GMC registration can always apply for a special working visa to allow them to work in the UK. The GMC can give you more information about this kind of visa. With the right qualifications, experience and GMC registration doctors can quite easily be sponsored and given a UK work permit by UK hospitals who are very keen to recruit qualified and experienced Doctors from overseas.
